reading...

Tuesday, October 31

I just realized that since this summer, I have not read a book for fun. I read, read, read for school, but what about reading to get my mind OFF of school? So, tonight I am going to go to my bookshelf, find a good book that I have been wanting to read, and spend at least 30 minutes with it. I have another midterm (though its a bit late for midterms) on Friday, but I really feel like reading can be theraputic. So, I'll let you know what I choose...

In other news, we just had our first trick-or-treaters. Also, the spider that we caught and put in our fake spiderweb (on the front porch) has decided to stick around. He has now made his own web and attached it to our fake web! So fun! I just fed him a little worm tonight.

until next time

Little Miss Sunshine

Monday, October 30

This is the trailer for one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Greg Kinnear and Steve Carrell are two of my favorite actors, and they were brilliant together. In fact, I was Olive (the little girl) for Halloween! Hit play for a few laughs...

The Great Smoky Mountains

Monday, October 23

Last weekend, we had a little family reunion in Gatlinburg, TN. We drove up Friday, and came home Tuesday, so it was a very nice break for all of us. For the first time, I saw "small town" north Georgia, which I thought would be a scary, banjo-playing place, but in fact it was quite beautiful. We stayed in a cabin and built fires every night, made s'mores, hiked, ate, visited a haunted house, and just hung out. Wonderful! If you ever have a chance to visit the Great Smoky Mountains in fall, please do. It's worth the drive.

Here is a link to more pictures of the mountains (and some hiking fun):

Last year, Tuco was a pumpkin for halloween. What should he be this year?

my blog...

Sunday, October 8

Hi classes! As you can see, I added my blog to our list. I don't like commenting on your blogs with "academic written english" as my name (how boring), so now you can see my real name and a picture I took while enjoying some very good chocolate cake on my birthday. :)

Feel free to leave comments as you do with your classmates. See you in class!

tonight

Well, it is Sunday night. I usually hate Sunday nights, as Monday is just a few hours away; however, tonight is different.

Tonight I am sitting by my open window, enjoying the cool breeze of fall. Also, I am listening to some old Willie Nelson songs. For some reason, his songs are always calming to me. What music helps you "chill out?"

This weekend was just what I needed. I caught up on classwork, and I had time with friends. Willie Nelson, friends, football... what else could a girl need? :)

phonology review

Tuesday, October 3

I think the perfect time to revive an old blog is when you have a midterm in 12 hours.

Instead of memorizing the motivations for phonemic analysis, I usually find myself doing one of three things (or three of three things):
1. cleaning the house
2. buying new music on itunes (assuming it will help my studying)
3. playing online

I am currently trying numero tres.

au revoir.
